Argentine Independence Day

Argentina celeberates its independence.
On July 9, 1816 in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina's independence was declared. This day is an opportunity for people from Buenos Aires to come together to celebrate this important event in their history. While many events are held in Tucumán, in the north west, Buenos Aires also celebrates this day.
In particular on the Avenida de Mayo cafes serve hot chocolate and churros to mark this day. A mass is also given in the Cathedral, a solemn event which is attended by the President of Argentina.
